Logging in to the e-Filing portal

To log in to the e-Filing portal, you must first register yourself on the portal. You will need your user ID and password to log in. Once you have logged in, you can click on 'Services' on your dashboard and then select 'View/Download e-PAN'.

On the ''Enter Aadhaar Number' page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and click 'Continue'. You will then be taken to the OTP validation page, where you must enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar and click 'Continue' again. The OTP will only be valid for 15 minutes, and you will have 3 attempts to enter the correct code.

After this, you will be able to update your PAN details. On the ''Update PAN Details' page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and click 'Continue'. If your Aadhaar is linked to a valid PAN, a message will be displayed. If your Aadhaar is not linked to any mobile number, another message will be displayed.

You can then select the details you want to update and click 'Confirm'. A success message will be displayed, and you will be given an Acknowledgement Number, which you should keep a note of for future reference.

Updating primary and secondary contact details

To update your primary and secondary contact details, you must first log in to the e-Filing portal using your User ID and password. Then, follow these steps:

Step 1: Access your profile page

On the Welcome page, click on your name in the top right corner of your dashboard, then click 'My Profile'.

Step 2: Edit your contact details

On the 'My Profile' page, click Edit to update your contact details. Enter your mobile number as per your bank, Aadhaar, PAN, or other details, then click 'Save'. If you click 'Update as per PAN / Aadhaar', a pop-up message will appear. Select 'As per PAN' or 'As per Aadhaar' and click 'Update'. If your details are already updated, hover over the '!' sign and select 'Click here to update as per Bank details'.

Step 3: Verify your contact details

If you have updated your mobile number and email ID as per your Aadhaar, you will not need to verify your mobile number. However, you will need to verify your email ID. Enter the two separate 6-digit OTPs received on your primary mobile number and primary email ID, then click 'Submit'. If you have updated your contact details as per your bank details, enter the 6-digit OTP received on the Synchronize Added Bank Contact Details page.

Step 4: Receive confirmation

Once your details have been successfully updated, you will receive a confirmation message on your mobile number and email ID linked with Aadhaar.

Editing personal details

To edit your personal details, you must first log in to the e-Filing portal using your User ID and password. After logging in, click on your name in the top right corner of the dashboard and select 'My Profile'.

On the 'My Profile' page, you can update your personal details, such as your PAN details, TAN details, and Aadhaar Number. You can also update your contact details, including your mobile number, email ID, and address.

To update your mobile number, click 'Edit' on the 'My Profile' page and enter your new mobile number as per your Bank, Aadhaar, PAN, or Bank details. Click 'Save' to continue. If you update your mobile number as per your Aadhaar, you will need to verify your contact details by entering the 6-digit OTP sent to your mobile number and email ID.

To update your address, you can do so as per your PAN or Aadhaar details. No OTP authentication is required for updating your address. However, a confirmation email will be sent to your primary email ID registered on the e-Filing portal upon successful updation of the address.

Additionally, you can update your date of birth by selecting the ''Update PAN Details' option. Ensure that your date of birth is updated in your Aadhaar before proceeding with the update in your PAN details. After selecting the details you want to update, click 'Confirm'. A success message will be displayed, along with an Acknowledgement Number for future reference.

Changing address details

To change your address details in your PAN card, you can update your PAN card details online through the Protean PAN website or the UTIITSL website. If you have applied for a PAN card via the NSDL e-Gov website, you need to apply for updating PAN details on that website. Similarly, if you have applied for a PAN card on the UTIITSL website, you need to update the PAN card details on the UTIITSL website.

  • Log in to the e-Filing portal using your User ID and password.
  • On your Dashboard, click Services > View/Download e-PAN.
  • On the Enter Aadhaar Number page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and click Continue.
  • On the OTP Validation page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar and click Continue.
  • On the Update PAN Details page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, select the I confirm that checkbox and click Continue.
  • After selecting all the details which you want to update as per Aadhaar details, click Confirm.
  • On confirmation, a success message will be displayed with an Acknowledgement Number. Please keep a note of the Acknowledgement ID for future reference. You will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile number and email ID linked with Aadhaar.
  • Scroll down and attach a copy of your ‘photograph’ and ‘signature’. Ensure the files are as per the specifications and sizes mentioned. Once done, click ‘Submit’.
  • After submitting the PAN card correction form, the payment page will appear. Payment can be done through various payment gateways. After successful payment, you will receive a payment receipt.
  • To complete the PAN card update/correction process, click ‘continue’. You will now have to complete the KYC process. Select the check box to accept the terms and conditions and click on ‘Authenticate’.
  • An OTP will be generated and sent to your Aadhaar Registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and submit the online PAN application form.
  • Enter the first eight digits of your Aadhaar Number and ensure all other details filled in by you are correct.
  • You will now see a preview of the form.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar Registered mobile number and verify. You can now download the acknowledgement form. The password to open this file is your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY.

Verifying contact details

To verify your contact details, log in to the e-Filing portal using your User ID and password. On the dashboard, click on your name in the top right corner and select 'My Profile'. On the ''My Profile' page, click 'Edit' to update your contact details. Enter your mobile number as per bank, Aadhaar, PAN, or other details and click 'Save'.

If you update your mobile number and email ID as per your Aadhaar and no other edits are made, you will not be required to verify your mobile number. However, you will need to verify your email ID. An email will be sent to your primary email ID registered on the e-Filing portal to confirm the update.

If you are a non-resident with an overseas number, you will receive the OTP only on the primary email ID registered on the e-Filing portal.

If you update your contact details as per your PAN or Aadhaar, a pop-up message will be displayed. Select 'As per PAN' or 'As per Aadhaar' and click 'Update'. If your details are already updated as per PAN or Aadhaar, hover over the '!' sign and select 'Click here to update as per bank details'.

On the ''Verify your Contact Details' page, enter the two separate 6-digit OTPs received on your primary mobile number and primary email ID and click 'Submit'.
