First, a little background: The Shado-Pan are a group of Pandaren who are known for their strength and secrecy. Your objective is to form an alliance with them, which will be crucial for your foothold in Pandaria. Rumour has it that their base of operations is located southeast of Kun-Lai, near Firebough Nook.

Now, to find Shado-Master Chong, make your way to the Shado-Pan Fallback in Firebough Nook. This is where you will likely find Shado-Master Chong, a key character to initiating the quest chain.

Upon locating Shado-Master Chong, you will need to engage in conversation. Introduce yourself and offer your assistance. Shado-Master Chong might ask about your fighting abilities, so be prepared to provide details on your skills and how you can contribute to their cause.

Remember, this initial interaction is essential to gaining their favour and forming the much-needed alliance. Be respectful and follow any instructions or requests that Shado-Master Chong may have for you. Their approval will determine your next steps in the quest chain.

To help the Shado-Pan fight the Sha and the Mantid, you must first gain their trust and respect. The Shado-Pan are not welcoming or friendly, and they are angry about the presence of newcomers in Pandaria. To earn their respect, you must prove your worth by completing quests and defeating them in combat.

The Shado-Pan quest chain can be started by speaking to Shado-Master Chong at Shado-Pan Fallback in Firebough Nook. He will ask if you can fight and if you can help them. This is an optional breadcrumb quest that leads to the Shado-Pan quest chain.

The Shado-Pan are also locked behind the Golden Lotus faction. You must reach revered status with the Golden Lotus before you can begin the daily quests for the Shado-Pan.

Once you have gained their trust, the Shado-Pan will allow you to accompany them on their missions. You will need to help them clean up the mess caused by the newcomers, including dealing with the Yaungol, who are breaching the Serpent's Spine and spilling into Pandaria. You will also need to assist them in their timeless struggle against the Sha and the Mantid.

By completing quests for the Shado-Pan, you can gain reputation, which will unlock additional rewards and quests. At exalted reputation, a short quest chain opens up at the Shado-Pan Garrison, offering further opportunities to aid the Shado-Pan in their fight.

Complete the Kun-Lai Summit storyline

To complete the Kun-Lai Summit storyline, you must first complete the Valley of the Four Winds and Krasarang Wilds storylines. Messenger Grummles will show up at Stoneplow, Halfhill, and the Grassy Cline with a message from Lorewalker Cho, which starts the breadcrumb quest, [20-35] The Road to Kun-Lai.

You can then access the summit via the Veiled Stair, which begins at the Grassy Cline in the northeast part of the Valley of the Four Winds. You can take a free boat ride through the level 90-infested Ancient Passage, which will drop you off at Binan Village in the southeast corner of the summit zone.

At Binan Village, you'll encounter a yaungol invasion. Lorewalker Cho will save Admiral Taylor, General Nazgrim, and other members of the faction's forces. To gain the pandaren as allies, you must help evacuees from either Eastwind Rest or Westwind Rest.

You will then encounter the Shado-Pan at the Shado-Pan Fallback, near the Firebough Nook in the southwest corner of the zone. From there, you will travel up to Winter's Blossom, overlooking the Ox Gate, where you must fend off a yaungol invasion. Ban Bearheart will then take you to the Shado-Pan Monastery in his hot air balloon.

You will then continue on to One Keg, where you will encounter Lorewalker Cho again. He will begin Path Less Traveled, which starts a long chain in the northeast part of the zone.

Complete the Townlong Steppes storyline

To complete the Townlong Steppes storyline, you must first complete the Kun-Lai Summit storyline and the Shado-Pan Monastery during the Mists of Pandaria campaign. You can then enter Townlong via the Ox Gate southwest of Winter's Blossom. The progression of the storyline is tracked in the achievement "One Steppe Forward, Two Steppes Back".

The first quests in the Townlong Steppes storyline are "The Mistlurkers in the Sumprushes" and "Tai Ho's Investigation". Just on the other side of the wall are Fire Camp Osul and the Longying Outpost, the latter of which was recently taken by the Shado-Pan as a base. Here, you will find Suna Silentstrike, Ban Bearheart, Taoshi, and Taran Zhu, cleansed of his sha corruption, having a war conference around a bonfire.

There are several optional quests at this stage, including "My Husband...", "Beyond the Wall", "The Shado-Pan Offensive", "Hero's Call: Townlong Steppes!" and "Warchief's Command: Townlong Steppes!". You can then move on to the quests "A Foot in the Door", "First Assault", "Running Rampant", and "Perfect Pitch".

After the events at Fire Camp Osul, Suna runs off, and Ban and the rest of the Shado-Pan trail her to Hatred's Vice, the site of a yaungol massacre. Here, you can complete the optional side quest "The Exile". You can then continue with the quests "Dust to Dust", "Slaying the Scavengers", "Totemic Research", and "Last Toll of the Yaungol".

After figuring out what happened at Hatred's Vice, Ban sends adventurers to the Gao-Ran Battlefront, which has been under threat from the mantid. There are several optional quests at this stage, including "Treatment for the Troops", "Unwelcome Intruders", "Breach in the Defenses", and "The Restless Watch", as well as the side quest "Trap Setting".

After dealing with the mantid threat, Taran Zhu and Taoshi head towards Dusklight Hollow to confront the Sha of Hatred. However, the hollow has been destroyed, and the remaining defenders are at the Dusklight Bridge, fending off another mantid swarm. You can complete the optional breadcrumb quest "Along the Southern Front" before moving on to the quests "Enraged By Hatred", "Taking Stock", "Joining the Fight", and "Up In Flames".

After pushing the mantid back across the Dusklight Bridge, Taran Zhu adds Lao-Chin the Iron Belly to the party as they move towards Rensai's Watchpost. There are several optional side quests at this stage, including "Grounded Welcome" and "Choking the Skies".

The final quests in the Townlong Steppes storyline are "Hostile Skies", "Devastation Below", "Heroes of the Shado-Pan", "Buried Beneath", "Taoshi and Korvexxis", "Lao-Chin and Serevex", and "Nurong and Rothek". There are also several optional side quests, including "Thinning the Sik'thik" and "The Search for Restless Leng".

Completing the main Sha of Hatred storyline will lead you just north of Sik'vess to the Shado-Pan Garrison, which has a flight path and starts Tai Ho's Investigation. The quest " [30-35] The Threat in the South" opens up from Taoshi and serves as a breadcrumb towards Dread Wastes.

Complete the Shado-Pan Garrison one-offs and dailies

To complete the Shado-Pan Garrison one-offs and dailies, players will need to reach level 90 and unlock the portal to the Isle of Thunder. This can be done by accepting the Thunder Calls quest from Lyalia (for Alliance) or Sunwalker Dezco (for Horde) at your faction's shrine.

After receiving the quest, head to your faction camp outside the Shado-Pan Garrison in the central region of Townlong Steppes. The Alliance camp is located near the shore north of the garrison, while the Horde camp is to the south.

Once you've arrived at your faction camp, you'll need to find the quest giver for The Storm Gathers, your next quest. For Horde, the coordinates are 50.7, 73.4, and for Alliance, the coordinates are 49.7, 68.7.

Speak with Vereesa Windrunner to start The Storm Gathers quest. After completing this quest, you'll be able to take the portal to the Isle of Thunder from the Shado-Pan Garrison and access the daily quests.

It's worth noting that there is another portal closer to the bridge that leads to Shan'ze Dao, which is also accessible after completing the quest [25-35] Through the Portal.
