One such effect is the ability to create an animated zoom, which can add elegance and sophistication to your video projects. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create an animated zoom in Sony Vegas:
Import the video clip
Begin by importing the video clip you want to apply the animated zoom to into your Sony Vegas project. Go to the "File" menu and select "Import Media," or simply drag and drop the clip directly into the timeline.
Enable keyframing
Once your video clip is in the timeline, right-click on it and select "Insert/Remove Envelope." From the drop-down menu, click on "Pan/Crop" to open the Pan/Crop window. In this window, click on the "Keyframes" button to enable keyframing for the clip. Keyframing allows you to animate the zoom effect smoothly.
Adjust the zoom level
In the Pan/Crop window, click on the "Zoom" tab. You will see a zoom slider that you can adjust to change the level of zoom for the clip. Drag the slider to the right to zoom in or to the left to zoom out.
Set keyframes
To set the first keyframe for the zoom effect, click on the "Add Keyframe" button below the zoom slider. You can add multiple keyframes throughout the clip to adjust the zoom level at different points.
Adjust zoom speed
You can adjust the zoom speed by right-clicking on a keyframe and adjusting its behaviour. This will create a faster, slower, or smoother speed curve for the zoom.
Render and preview
Once you have set your keyframes and adjusted the zoom level and speed, render the effect by adding it back into the timeline. Preview your work to see the animated zoom in action.
By following these steps, you can create an animated zoom effect in Sony Vegas, adding a dynamic and elegant touch to your video projects. With careful planning and attention to detail, you can highlight important details, add depth to your shots, and create visually appealing compositions.

Using the keyframe controller
The Keyframe Controller is displayed at the bottom of the Video FX, Video Media Generators, Track Motion, and Transition dialogs.
To quickly add a keyframe, double-click on the Keyframe Controller timeline, or position the cursor on the timeline and modify your effect parameters. You can also select the Animate button – the little clock icon – next to a parameter. The animation timeline appears at the bottom of the effect control box.
During playback, the effect will smoothly transition through the attributes you established for each keyframe. The interpolation curve determines the rate of animation between two keyframe settings. To change the interpolation curve, right-click a selected keyframe and choose a command from the shortcut menu. The curve type is updated for all selected keyframes.
After you’ve set your keyframes, you may need to adjust their positions along the timeline. To do this, drag a keyframe to a new position in the Keyframe Controller timeline. Hold Ctrl or Shift while clicking to select multiple keyframes.
To jump to the next or previous keyframe, click the Previous Keyframe and Next Keyframe buttons (or press Ctrl+Left Arrow or Ctrl+Right Arrow). To jump to the first or last keyframe, click the First Keyframe or Last Keyframe button.
