The Indian government has mandated that all citizens must link their PAN and Aadhaar cards. However, many citizens have encountered issues linking the two due to name mismatches. If you are facing a similar issue, you can either change the name on your Aadhaar card or PAN card to match the other. To change the name on your Aadhaar card, you can submit a request on the UIDAI website or send a mail to the UIDAI Helpdesk. To change the name on your PAN card, you must provide proof of name change, proof of identity, proof of address, and recent passport-sized photographs. This can be done through the NSDL website. Alternatively, you can use the mAadhaar app to link your Aadhaar and PAN cards, but you cannot update demographic details through the app.

This means that you will not be able to execute most financial transactions, including opening a bank account, issuing a debit or credit card, purchasing mutual fund units, or making cash deposits over Rs. 50,000 in a bank or post office in a single day. Using the mAadhaar app to link Aadhaar and PAN
The mAadhaar app can be used by anyone with a smartphone, regardless of whether they have a registered mobile number. However, only those with an Aadhaar-linked registered mobile number can create an Aadhaar profile in the app. To register, launch the app and tap on the "Register Aadhaar" tab on the main dashboard, then create a 4-digit PIN/password. This password must be memorised as it will be required to access the profile.
The mAadhaar profile is accepted as valid ID proof, and the app also allows Aadhaar number holders to share their eKYC or QR code with service providers who require Aadhaar verification before providing services.
The app can be used to update addresses, but not other demographic details such as name, date of birth, or mobile number. It is unclear whether this will change in the future.
To link your Aadhaar and PAN, you can use the quick link "Link Aadhaar" on the e-Filing home page.
